Coffee & Cookie Consults are the best kind of help–we come to you for one-on-one chats, and you get to have a cup of coffee and a snack…all for free! This is a chance for us to learn about your research, you to learn about resources that could make things easier, and for one-on-one help with any issues you’re experiencing with storing, processing, sharing, reading, or querying your data. We can provide consultation on a wide range of scientific computing problems, from data formats and visualization software to programming and cluster usage. The topic is up to you!
Common Scientific Computing Problems We Can Help With
If you’re not sure Research Computing Support is for you, these are some of the common problems we can help with:
- Data, no matter the size, stored on external drives
- “Sneaker netting” or mailing data to share with collaborators
- Data processing that seems to be taking longer than it should or keeps failing
- Data processing that is human intensive and highly repetitive
If you’re still not sure we can help, come by and tell us about your research–there will be coffee, cookies, and the chance for something productive to happen!
When & Where
Check back for dates for Coffee and Cookie Consults. We typically try to hold them the third Friday of the month from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, but we can be responsive to the best days/times for your building traffic. We travel, so check back to see where we’ll be or let us know if you’d like us to come to your building or department.
